DIY | BREAKFAST FACIAL SCRUB + MASK ♡

Hey girlies, today I thought I would share a quick little DIY facial scrub + mask with you, it's one of the many homemade beauty treatments I occasionally do.

This DIY scrub isn't harsh at all, it's great for someone who doesn't want to use a gritty product such as sea salt. I really do love ocean salt though, it's one of my fave lush products!

I N G R E D I E N T S
1 cup of oats
1/2 a cup of almond milk
1/2 a banana
1 tbsp organic ground flaxseed
1 tsp ground cinnamon

... You basically just combine those together in a bowl, store in the fridge for up to 1 hour in a little jar or tub then use as you desire. That's it!

* if you have any left overs, you can store for up to 5 days in the fridge. *

Here is a little bit about why these ingredients are fabulous for your skin...

OATS - The oats work as the main exfoliant in this mixture due to their granular texture. They contain 18 different amino acids. Exfoliating is so essential in skincare and the oats will help to slough away dry, dead skin cells to make way for fresh, healthy new ones. The amino acids will promote vibrant, younger looking skin whilst also helping to heal blemishes and repair damaged skin.

BANANA - They aren't just delicious and healthy, bananas are fabulous for your skin as they contain vitamins A, B, E and potassium. Vitamin A evens out the skin and helps vanish dark spots and blemishes. Vitamin B moisturizes, lightens and helps to prevent signs of aging in the skin. Vitamin E is great for protecting the skin and preventing wrinkles and Potassium is great for hydrating the skin cells and getting rid of dry skin.

ALMOND MILK - Almond milk is a great source of Vitamin E. It has anti-aging qualities due to being able to treat dry, flaky skin. It also contains Vitamin B2. It helps the tissues of the skin, hair and nails to use oxygen. I would recommend using almond milk as a toner, it's lovely and refreshing.

ORGANIC GROUND FLAXSEED - Flaxseed is a plant-based food composed mainly of omega-3 fatty acids, a nutrient that is known for providing a variety of health benefits. The essential fatty acids help to keep the skin hydrated and smooth. The antioxidants found in flaxseeds can also help to protect against skin cancer. And last but not least, using flax on your skin can help to reduce redness, rashes and skin irritation. They're also great in smoothies and porridge! :)

GROUND CINNAMON - Okay, so I basically just decided to throw in some cinnamon because it tastes so good and I wanted to lick it off my face like a puppy, hehe. Nah, just kiddin' :D  Cinnamon is actually really good for your skin. It's good at plumping, reducing fine lines and it can help tighten your pores and reduce acne.

Love, Leanne
